Beauty at Every Age
Star Facialist Tracie Martyn reveals tips and products that keep her celebrity clientele glowing.
"To combat oil and pimples, twice a day use a cleanser that purifies and exfoliates without stripping skin," says Martyn, the makeup artist turned aesthetician whose Resculpting Facial is a pre-awards show must for famous faces. Her Amla Purifying Cleanser ($65, right) contains salicylic acid and antioxidants to help smooth skin and calm redness. "Liv Tyler loves it," she says.
FRESHEN YOUR COMPLEXION
"Start fighting the signs of aging as soon as possible," advises Martyn, who suggests adding an exfoliating product to your skin regimen. "Remove dead cells and impurities with gentle exfoliators like malic acid, which is derived from pineapples," she says. Also look for kojic acid on the ingredient list-it helps lighten dark spots. Try Tracie Martyn Enzyme Exfoliant ($90, right).
DIMINISH FINE LINES
"Wrinkles can fade with products that contain a transforming growth factors that help encourage the production of skin plumping collagen," she says. Want an immediate (albeit temporary) fix for eyes? Martyn recommends her own Lotusculpt Quick Fix Eyepads ($45 for 10; available at traciemartyn.com) to soften fine lines and help camouflage dark circles.
Martyn's cult Firming Serum ($185, left) contains an antiaging cocktail of red-wine extracts to prevent skin thinning and loss of firmness, plus lighteners like the natural peptide glutathione that give any complexion a warm glow. Susan Sarandon and Diane Von Furstenberg are devotees.
MAINTAIN YOUR GLOW
"You still need to be meticulous about protecting your skin from the sun," says Martyn.
