RED-CARPET TREATMENT
MARY ZAVAGLIA talks to beautician to the stars Tracie Martyn in New York. For the last year’s Oscars, Tracie Martyn set up in a hotel suite for two weeks so she could treat A-list clients such as Kate Winslet, Jennifer Aniston, Meryl Streep and Naomi Watts to her signature Resculpting Facial®. How do you get your clients ready for the red carpet- is it a six-week lead up?
Many of my celebrity clients who live in New York do come on a regular basis- at least once a month, and weekly for several weeks before an important red carpet event. It is not uncommon for them to come in twice the week of the event, and often one of the treatments is scheduled the day of the event. It was natural for us, therefore, to trademark one of our signature treatments as the Red Carpet Facial®.
Are you in LA prior to the Academy Awards?
I have had the pleasure of working with nominees and presenters before the Oscars for over five years now. I set up in a private suite in a hotel and nobody knows about the location apart from my staff and my clients. We usually arrive about 10 days before the event and are fully booked until the ceremony.
Do any famous men come in for treatments?
Oh yes! We have the pleasure to work with Brad Pitt when he is in town
At present, your beauty machine treatment is only available in America. Is there an alternative for Australian women?

Which product won’t you leave home without?
I always have the Firming Serum in my purse. Not only is it an amazing light-weight moisturizer, but it has lots of antioxidants, including the peptide glutathione- known as the master antioxidant- and the famous longevity antioxidant resveratrol.
